There is an old southern gospel song that is called “It Is Always Darkest Before the Dawn”. This song is still as relevant today as it was when it was written. There has been so much darkness in the world the last few years it seems that God’s people have given up on having some hope of God’s light shining through. But have you seen the revivals happening on several college campuses where thousands of people are praying and worshiping with each other. Since so many young people have been praying for a rival to happen, God has honored their prayers. Because of these college kid’s faith, so many people have come to Christ and have gotten baptized. All of this started out with a little bit of light that has made an enormous impact.
During several of Billy Graham’s crusades, he would make the whole stadium go dark. He would then tell the audience to light their candles to show them that only a little bit of light could pierce through the darkness easily. With today’s technology, at a concert sometimes people will shine their flashlights on their phones and that light will light up the darkness by itself. If a whole lot of flashlights are lit up, then the darkness disappears much easier. This is the same pount that Billy Graham was trying to make to the audience all those years ago.
One of my favorite years in high school was my junior year because I saw God’s light sweeping through the halls of my high school just because a few select students prayed for a revival. My sister Hannah and I were on the leadership team of our schools Fellowship of Christian Athletes, so we had a group of friends who had the same beliefs that we did at our public high school. At the beginning of the school year, we asked God to use us for his glory in our school and community. God ended up using us in a mighty way by letting us start a revival in our school and among our classmates. Before the end of the school year, there was hardly any seating room when we meet every Friday morning to worship and read God’s word together. It was a beautiful and wonderful sight to see.
In John 14:6 Jesus says that “I am the way, and the truth, and the light. No one comes to the Father except through me” (NIV). In this season of Lint, what better time to remember that even in the darkness of this world, there is still hope in our world. As believers we know that dawn is coming but until then, we must pray for more revivals to happen in our neighborhoods, cities, states, countries, and our world. There are so many people who don’t know Jesus and so he wants to use us to reach them Just like God used those college kids who started those revivals.
You have a light. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
Well, I was able to get in and I don't know how I did! I have a blog. I can't even keep up with the address. I had to put it in my word saves. Keep up the good work.
