A famous saying goes something like, "If you have a twin, then you have an instant best friend for life!" I have found this to be true with my twin sister Hannah Gray. Hannah is two minutes older than I am and we are Fraternal twins. Every set of twins has a saying. For us, Hannah was the oldest but I was the one with the personality. Even though we look different, we have much more in common than people might think. In honor of our upcoming birthday, I thought that I would talk about my relationship with my sister.
When Hannah and I were little, we created our twin language so she could understand what I needed. Since I couldn't speak clearly when I was little, our twin language helped Hannah relay what I needed to our parents. Hannah loved it because she thought that I was her own personal doll. She would drag me around wherever she wanted me to go, even if I didn't want to go with her.
When Hannah and I were a little older, we got into sports. Hannah played basketball and soccer. Meanwhile, I was into cheerleading and soccer. Sports were great for both of us because it got us out of the house and let us get some exercise. We would also play basketball with both our parents on our driveway. Sports was something that gave both of us joy and good memories.
Hannah is also the musical one of us. She has always had a beautiful singing voice. In middle through high school, Hannah was in the marching band, jazz band, and choir. At t church, she was also in our youth group's praise band. Hannah can play piano, keyboard, and saxophone. I have always been amazed at how talented she is.
In December 2021, Hannah graduated from nursing school from the University of Alabama In Huntsville with honors. I was the proudest sister in the world as I watched her walk across that stage receiving her diploma. Hannah had worked tirelessly for four and a half years for that day and it had finally arrived. Our family knew that her life was about to change in the best way possible and we were so excited for her. Hannah became an ICU nurse the next month.
Hannah and I still have our own language and she still takes care of me. If you have an amazing sister like Hannah in your life, then consider yourself blessed. Hannah has always been there for me and is my best friend. Thank you Hannah for everything that you have done for me. I will be forever and eternally grateful to you. I love you Hannah and happy birthday.
Happy birthday to you both.
