Those people who know me best, know that I love chocolate! There is a running joke in my family that I always want a chocolate fountain that pours into my mouth while I''m laying down. That is how much I love chocolate! Back in the summer of 2019, I convinced my family to drive 13 hours up to Hershey, Pennsylvania so that I could go to Chocolate World! We decided to also go to Philidelphia and Gettysburg while we were up there.
We went to Chocolate World on the first day of our trip. We watched a 2-D video, took a class on how to properly taste chocolate, and just walked around. When we got to the ice cream store there, I ordered a Resses cup milshake and it was absolutely delicious! The Reeses cup on top of the milkshake was the best one I had ever tasted because the cup was baked freshly right there in the store! We had so much fun going to Chocolate World so we were glad we went!
The next day, my family and I went to Philidelphia. We first went to see the Liberty Bell. It was so cool looking at that bell and thinking how important one simple object was so important to our nation's history. We then went and toured Independence Hall. If you go to the 5:00 tour, you don't have to buy a ticket for it so that's nice. I was happy to see that even though it is a couple hundred years old, everything was still in pristine condition.
On the last day of our trip, we went to Gettysburg. We bought a CD and just drove around the battlefield. One advantage of doing the car tours are, instead of the bus tours is that you can get out and take your time looking around. The battlefield was an absolutely beautiful place but it was also sad knowing that there were so many lives lost there! I have a fifth great uncle on my Dad's side that was one of Abraham Lincoln's generals. His name was Daniel Sickels and he actually lost his leg during the battle, but kept fighting with his men until the battle was over. That was part of the reason that my family also wanted to go to Gettysburg. We wanted to see part of our family history with our own eyes.
Trips like these are always memorable. All of these places were incredible in their own individual ways. If you like historical trips then going to Gettysburg and Philidelphia would be a good choice to visit. Chocolate World is family friendly and it has stuff for people of all ages to do. I would highly recommend going to these places with your families to experience these things for yourselves!
