A tribute to my friend Katie Trent!

Two years ago today, my community was forever changed! My friend Katie Trent was killed in a car wreck unexpectedly and everyone that knew her was devastated to hear of her passing!. Katie was only thirty-two years old, but the legacy that she left behind is still being felt today! Even though today is a sad day for many, I am going to focus on the life that she lived instead of her death itself because I know for a fact, that it is what she would want all of us to do today!

I grew up with Katie and her brother David because our families went to the same church together for years. Katie was always older then me and my sister were but, she always made an effort to check up on us. Everyone that ever met Katie loved her because she was the sweetest human being you would ever want to meet and she truly had a heart for people! Everytime our church would go on a mission trip, she was on them and the light that was inside of her touched so many people's lives on the opposite side of the world! One of my favorite things that I loved about Katie was that she was not afraid to share her faith with anyone who would listen.

Katie always knew how to really live in the moment. I remember when I was growing up, I was talking to her one day and I was saying something long the lines of, "I can't wait to grow up". I remember Katie then looking at me and saying, "Enjoy where you are in life right now because it won't last forever!" That statement has stuck with me ever since. Katie never got married but she was content because she knew that she was right in the middle of God's will for her life!

Katie always wanted to be a mom, so for the last little bit of her life she was a foster mom. She opened up her home to kids and gave them love that they most definitely needed. Katie was an amazing foster mom and I was so proud of her for taking that leap of faith and doing the foster parenting thing! Foster parenting is not an easy thing to do! I only wish that she could have been able to do that just a little bit longer.

I will forever miss her contagious laughter and her adventurous spirit but I am very gretful for the time I did get to spend with her and for all of the lessons that she taught me along the way! I know that she is in a better place now and I will see my sweet Katie again one day. Until we are united again, I will rember her fondly and try to live my life in such a way that she would be proud of me! We love and miss you Katie Trent!!

Awesome job! I could feel the love coming from the words of your blog! I agree nothing is more important than being in the Will of God, thankful that Katie was smack dab in the middle of His Will. To God be the glory. Thank you for sharing your memories of your sweet friend Katie.❤️ Much love to you my friend.
