This upcoming Sunday is Mother's Day so I decided to dedicate this weeks blog post to mothers everywhere. I know for a fact that I am the woman today because of the influence of my mother. My mother taught me what it looks like to be a godly and independant woman. She is the strongest person that I know and she is my hero because of that!

Ever since I was a little girl, my dad has been fighting kidney cancer and we almost lost him several times, so my mom has had to be play the role of both parents for my sister and I, be a full time care taker, and work a full time job all at the same time. I saw that even in the worst of times, she leaned on her faith in God. She trusted that no matter what we went through, we would never be alone. It was always scary for our family because we weren't sure what the future would hold for us, but my mom was always our rock that my sister and I would look up to for strength.

One thing that my mom taught me was to always keep my head up. She would always tell me to look people in the eyes because they will have more respect for you if you are showing confidence. Since I have a physical disability, strangers sometimes automatically assume that I also have something wrong with my brain too. If my head is held up high, then I shatter that assumption and I show that I am capable of holding a normal conversation.

Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there and especially to my mother!! Hope y'all get pampered because you deserve it!
