A Birthday Celebration!

Today is a very special day because it is my mom's birthday! I always love celebrating her birthday to the fullest extent because it is days like these that we get to celebrate an extordinary woman! There have been so many times over the years that my mom was the glue that held our family together. My mother has not had an easy life but she still lives life to the fullest. I know for a fact, that I wouldn't be the person I am today without my mother's influence!

My mother Lisa was born to parents James and Jeanette Hoard in Mississippi. Her family did not have a lot of money but they had a lot of love along with faith and that was all they truly needed After graduating from high school, my mother went to college. Making her the first person in her family to go to college. She went to community college and then finished getting her computer science degree at the University of Ole Miss. There were several professors who told her that she would never make it as a engineer. Those remarks just made her even more determined to prove them wrong! That perserverance of hers is one of the many things that I love about her!

When my mom moved to Alabama she started her engineering career. A few years later, she met and married my dad. My dad fell immediately for my mother as soon as he saw her when he saw her natural beauty! After a few years of marriage, she had me and Hannah. Over the years, my mother has always put our family first over anything else no matter what every time! The one piece of advice that she has told me and Hannah over the years is, "When life throws you challenges, always fight it by going on your knees and praying!"

Some of my favorite things about my mother is her inner and outer beauty and her unwaivering faith. Mom also knows how to let loose and have fun no matter where she is. That quality always made her popular at church camps with the other kids! She is so kind and selfless! If I end up being even half of the woman that my mother is, then I will consider myself blessed! Happy birthday mom! We love you very much!!
